Common Name(s): Alpha-gastrodin,alpha-gastrodin,orchid rhizome neuroprotective glucoside,anti-anxiety anti-inflammatory skin active
CAS Number: N/a
DESCRIPTION
What It Does: Potentiates gaba-a receptors in skin neurons reducing substance p-mediated neurogenic inflammation, provides antioxidant protection from the benzyl glucoside radical scavenging, and delivers anti-inflammatory nf-kb inhibition for sensitive and reactive skin conditions.
Why It's Used: Gastrodin's gaba-a potentiation provides a unique neurocosmetic anti-inflammatory mechanism โ the same gaba-a pathway that provides the orchid's ancient sedative/anti-epileptic use directly inhibits neurogenic inflammation in skin sensory neurons.
How It Works: Gastrodin crosses skin barrier through benzyl glucoside lipophilicity, then activates gaba-a receptors on skin nerve endings โ clโป channel opening โ membrane hyperpolarisation โ reduced substance p and cgrp release โ decreased neurogenic vasodilation and mast cell activation. the neuropeptide reduction addresses neurogenic rosacea, sensitive skin flushing, and reactive skin erythema at the neurotransmitter level.
