Common Name(s): Aminopropyl kojyl phosphate, aminopropyl kojyl phosphate, kojic acid derivative brightening, tyrosinase cuยฒโบ chelator stable
CAS Number: N/a
DESCRIPTION
What It Does: Inhibits tyrosinase through the kojic acid moiety's cuยฒโบ chelation at the enzyme active site โ providing skin brightening with improved formulation stability versus free kojic acid which discolours products rapidly.
Why It's Used: Free kojic acid's iron-catalysed auto-oxidation causes rapid product yellowing โ the aminopropyl kojyl phosphate modification blocks the primary oxidation pathway providing 5-10ร improved colour stability while retaining full tyrosinase inhibitory activity.
How It Works: Aminopropyl kojyl phosphate: the phosphate group blocks the c4-oh auto-oxidation initiation; the aminopropyl chain provides solubility and membrane affinity for sc penetration. skin phosphatases slowly hydrolyse the phosphate releasing free kojic acid intracellularly for cuยฒโบ chelation at the tyrosinase active site (ic50 ~10 ฮผm).

SCIENTIFIC NOTE
Kojic acid derivative stability comparison: kojyl phosphate > kojic acid dipalmitate > free kojic acid in aqueous formulations โ the phosphate ester provides the best aqueous-phase stability while retaining sufficient water solubility for serum and toner incorporation.
