DESCRIPTION
What It Does: Neutralises reactive oxygen species, inhibits melanin production for brightening, and supports collagen triple helix formation as an essential prolyl hydroxylase cofactor.
Why It's Used: Provides vitamin c biological activity in a more formulation-stable, better-penetrating, or more soluble form than pure ascorbic acid whose enediol group degrades rapidly in aqueous formulation.
How It Works: Active ascorbate scavenges ros by electron donation (ascยฒโป โ ascโขโป โ dha), chelates tyrosinase cuยฒโบ for brightening, and maintains feยฒโบ in prolyl hydroxylase for collagen synthesis. modified forms release ascorbate through enzymatic hydrolysis.
