Common Name(s): Avenacosides,avenacosides,oat triterpenoid saponins,anti-inflammatory glucosides
CAS Number: N/a
DESCRIPTION
What It Does: Provides oat steroidal saponin anti-inflammatory activity through nf-kb modulation and membrane interaction, with antifungal activity from amphiphilic surfactant membrane disruption.
Why It's Used: Avenacosides are selected for the distinct pharmacology of oat's triterpenoid saponin fraction โ the steroidal glycoside scaffold provides anti-inflammatory and antifungal activity complementary to, but mechanistically distinct from, oat beta-glucan's dectin-1 immune modulation.
How It Works: Avenacosides: steroidal sapogenin โ nf-kb anti-inflammatory + antifungal membrane disruption; saponin amphiphilicity โ surfactant activity; glucoside hydrophilicity โ aqueous bioavailability.
