DESCRIPTION
What It Does: Provides azelaic acid's dual tyrosinase inhibition for brightening and anti-c. acnes activity through competitive enzyme inhibition, with additional functionality from the peptide or salicylate conjugate component.
Why It's Used: Azelaic acid is the only brightening active with concurrent anti-acne activity โ the dicarboxylic acid's competitive tyrosinase inhibition for brightening and mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation disruption for c. acnes bacteriostatic activity provide dual-indication skin care from one molecule.
How It Works: Azelaic acid competitive tyrosinase inhibition: the c9 dicarboxylate mimics dopa substrate geometry competing at the cuยฒโบ active site (ic50 ~100 ฮผm). anti-c. acnes: the dicarboxylic acid disrupts c. acnes mitochondrial electron transport chain reducing atp synthesis below viability threshold. peptide/salicylate conjugate adds signal peptide anti-aging or bha exfoliant keratolytic activity.
