COCETH-20

Description

COCETH-20, also known as PEG-20 Coconut Alcohol, is a versatile emulsifier and surfactant derived from coconut oil and ethylene oxide. This non-ionic compound plays a crucial role in various skincare and haircare formulations, enhancing product stability and texture. Its primary function is to help blend oil and water-based ingredients, creating smooth, homogeneous mixtures.

In skincare products, COCETH-20 acts as an effective cleansing agent, helping to remove dirt, oil, and impurities from the skin without excessive drying. Its gentle nature makes it suitable for use in facial cleansers and body washes, particularly for those with sensitive skin. Additionally, it serves as a solubilizer, allowing the incorporation of fragrances and essential oils into water-based formulations.

In haircare applications, COCETH-20 contributes to the development of rich, creamy lathers in shampoos and conditioners. It aids in the even distribution of active ingredients throughout the hair shaft, promoting better product performance. The ingredient's ability to reduce surface tension also enhances the spreadability of leave-in treatments and styling products.

While generally well-tolerated, individuals with coconut allergies should exercise caution when using products containing COCETH-20.
