COCETH-25
Description
COCETH-25, also known as PEG-25 Cocamine, is a versatile synthetic emulsifier and surfactant widely used in skincare and personal care products. This ethoxylated fatty amine derivative is derived from coconut oil and modified with polyethylene glycol (PEG) to enhance its solubility and mildness.
As a non-ionic surfactant, COCETH-25 effectively reduces surface tension between oil and water, allowing for stable emulsions and improved ingredient dispersion. It functions as an emollient, helping to soften and smooth the skin while providing a light, non-greasy feel. In haircare formulations, it acts as a conditioning agent, improving manageability and reducing static.
COCETH-25 is particularly valued for its gentle cleansing properties, making it suitable for sensitive skin and scalp formulations. It aids in the removal of dirt, oil, and other impurities without causing excessive dryness or irritation. Additionally, this ingredient enhances the foaming capabilities of products and helps to stabilize lather.
While generally considered safe for use in cosmetics, individuals with extremely sensitive skin should perform a patch test before using products containing COCETH-25 to ensure compatibility.
