Common Name(s): Palm fruit oil,red palm oil, elaeis guineensis fruit oil

CAS Number: 8002-75-3

DESCRIPTION

What It Does: Nourishes skin deeply with the natural antioxidants and fatty acids of red palm fruit oil.

Why It's Used: Red palm fruit oil is distinguished from rbd palm oil by retention of its carotenoids (beta-carotene ~500-700 ppm) and tocopherols/tocotrienols (~600-1000 ppm); provides potent antioxidant activity alongside oleic/palmitic emolliency.

How It Works: Palmitic (c16:0, ~44%) and oleic (c18:1, ~39%) acids provide balanced emolliency; beta-carotene (pro-vitamin a) and lycopene provide antioxidant protection; tocotrienols (dominant form of vitamin e) provide exceptional free-radical scavenging.

SCIENTIFIC NOTE

Red palm fruit oil is the world's richest plant source of beta-carotene and lycopene; tocotrienols in palm oil (gamma and delta forms) have 40-60x higher antioxidant activity than alpha-tocopherol; sustainability concerns (deforestation) mean rspo certification is essential.
