Common Name(s): Eugenyl glucoside,eugenyl glucoside,eugenol glycoside,stabilised phenylpropanoid

CAS Number: N/a

DESCRIPTION

What It Does: Provides glucosidase-released eugenol for antioxidant, antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory activity with the glucoside form significantly reducing eugenol's direct skin sensitisation risk compared to free eugenol.

Why It's Used: Eugenyl glucoside is selected as the safe eugenol delivery format — the glucoside masking of the reactive phenol group eliminates the oxidative haptenation pathway responsible for eugenol sensitisation, while the skin glucosidase hydrolysis provides controlled-release eugenol activity.

How It Works: Eugenyl glucoside → skin beta-glucosidase hydrolysis → eugenol release → phenolate radical scavenging + cox-2 inhibition + antimicrobial cell membrane disruption; glucoside: masked phenol → reduced sensitisation vs free eugenol.
