Common Name(s): Hydrogenated coco-glycerides,hydrogenated coconut glycerides, coconut oil glycerides hydrogenated

DESCRIPTION

What It Does: Provides solid, stable, natural emolliency from hydrogenated coconut glycerides.

Why It's Used: Mixed glycerides of hydrogenated coconut oil provide solid emolliency with improved oxidative stability vs virgin coconut glycerides; the mono/di/triglyceride mixture has some amphiphilic character from monoglyceride fraction.

How It Works: Hydrogenation saturates residual unsaturation in coconut glycerides; solid at room temperature (mp ~35°c); lauric acid dominant (c12:0); the monoglyceride fraction provides mild emulsification.

Typically Found In: Natural cosmetics, solid emollient formulas, lip products, body butters

Source Notes: Hydrogenated cocos nucifera (coconut) oil glycerides; natural plant origin. [audit 2026-07-29 rev2: origin-dependent: the same inci exists in plant, animal and petrochemical versions and the name does not discriminate. determination requires shariah-panel sign-off.]

SKIN COMPATIBILITY

Irritancy Rating: 1/5 – very low

Comedogenicity Rating: 2/5 – low-moderate (lauric acid-based)

Sensitivity Concerns: Generally well tolerated; rare coconut sensitivity.

Safe for Sensitive Skin: Yes

SAFETY & COMPATIBILITY

Safety Profile: Good safety profile. ewg score: 1.

Works Well With: Other plant glycerides, natural butters, emulsifiers

Avoid Combining With: No significant incompatibilities

SCIENTIFIC NOTE

Hydrogenated coco-glycerides differ from hydrogenated coconut oil in being a mixed glyceride (not pure triglyceride); the monoglyceride fraction provides amphiphilic emulsification character; used as a clean-label solid emollient in natural formulations.
