Common Name(s): Hydrogenated rapeseed glycerides, rapeseed glycerides hydrogenated, canola glycerides hydrogenated

CAS Number: 91744-64-8

DESCRIPTION

What It Does: Softens and moisturizes skin while helping oil and water blend together in creams and lotions.

Why It's Used: Hydrogenated rapeseed glycerides provide a stable, waxy-to-solid emollient texture with improved oxidative stability compared to raw rapeseed oil, ideal for skin barrier and rich moisturizing formulas.

How It Works: Fatty acid chains (predominantly c18 stearic/oleic post-hydrogenation) form an occlusive film on skin reducing water loss; the glyceride structure enables amphiphilic emulsification.

Typically Found In: Body creams,rich moisturizers,lip products,hair conditioners,barrier creams

Works Well With: Fatty alcohols, waxes, emulsifiers, humectants, plant butters

Avoid Combining With: No significant incompatibilities

SCIENTIFIC NOTE

Hydrogenation of rapeseed oil saturates unsaturated c18:1 (oleic) and c18:2 (linoleic) chains, increasing melting point and oxidative stability; inci-classified in the hydrogenated oil family alongside analogous palm/coco glycerides.
