Common Name(s): Isopropyl c12-15-pareth-9 carboxylate,isopropyl peg-9 lauryl/myristyl carboxylate
DESCRIPTION
What It Does: Helps oil and water blend with mild anionic surfactant activity.
Why It's Used: Isopropyl ester of the carboxylate of peg-9 c12-15 fatty alcohol; the isopropyl ester provides lipophilic character while the ether-carboxylate gives mild anionic character.
How It Works: Peg-9 chain provides hydrophilicity; c12-15 fatty tail provides lipophilic anchoring; carboxylate provides mild anionic emulsification; isopropyl ester modification adds lipophilic character.
Typically Found In: Mild anionic emulsion systems, surfactant blends

SKIN COMPATIBILITY
Irritancy Rating: 1/5 โ very low
Comedogenicity Rating: 1/5 โ low
Sensitivity Concerns: Generally well tolerated.
Safe for Sensitive Skin: Yes
SAFETY & COMPATIBILITY
Safety Profile: Good safety profile. ewg score: 1โ2.
Works Well With: Nonionic surfactants, other mild anionics
Avoid Combining With: No significant incompatibilities
SCIENTIFIC NOTE
Ether-carboxylate surfactants (pareth carboxylates) are mild anionic surfactants less irritating than ether sulfates; the isopropyl ester modification in this ingredient adds lipophilicity enabling use as an emulsifier.
