Common Name(s): Ozonized meadowfoam seed oil, ozonized meadowfoam seed oil, ozonized meadowfoam seed oil,ozone-activated antimicrobial healing oil
CAS Number: N/a
DESCRIPTION
What It Does: Provides antimicrobial protection from controlled peroxide radical release destroying bacterial and fungal membranes, accelerates wound healing through ozonide-mediated tissue oxygen delivery and growth factor stimulation, and conditions skin from the remaining oil phase.
Why It's Used: Ozonized oils combine the emollient properties of the base oil with controlled antimicrobial and healing activity from the ozonide peroxide groups โ providing a single ingredient delivering both conditioning and therapeutic activity.
How It Works: Ozonization: oโ addition across c=c double bonds โ molozonide (1,2,3-trioxolane) โ carbonyl oxide + carbonyl โ recombination โ ozonide (1,2,4-trioxolane). ozonide stability: stable for months at -20ยฐc, hours at 37ยฐc. at skin temperature โ controlled peroxide decomposition โ ros โ antimicrobial membrane disruption; simultaneously triggers wound healing pathways via nrf2 pathway ho-1 induction.

SCIENTIFIC NOTE
Ozonized oil concentration: the ozone concentration and treatment time determine the ozonide index (ox value, meq/g). lower ox (50-100): conditioning ozonized oils for skin care; higher ox (>300): medical-grade antimicrobial ozonized oils. cosmetic applications use low-mid ox for gentleness.
