Common Name(s): Ellagitannin/gallate polyphenol,premium antioxidant,anti-melanogenic brightening
CAS Number: N/a
DESCRIPTION
What It Does: Provides among the most potent radical scavenging of any commercial botanical antioxidant, inhibits tyrosinase for brightening and hyperpigmentation treatment, chelates pro-oxidant feยฒโบ and cuยฒโบ, and provides anti-inflammatory nf-kb inhibition.
Why It's Used: Pyrogallol-type polyphenols (1,2,3-trihydroxybenzene) have the highest intrinsic radical-scavenging activity per phenol unit of any common antioxidant class โ three adjacent hydroxyl groups provide exceptionally stable radical delocalisation after electron donation.
How It Works: Three adjacent oh groups in the pyrogallol system provide concerted electron transfer to ros with radical stabilisation through extended aromatic delocalisation across the catechol-pyrogallol system. tyrosinase inhibition occurs through competitive cuยฒโบ chelation at the enzyme active site (chelation constant k_d ~0.1 ฮผm for gallic acid).
