DESCRIPTION
What It Does: Delivers vitamin b6 into the sc lipid phase for sebum regulation through 5-alpha-reductase modulation, anti-inflammatory activity from pyridoxal-5-phosphate pathway involvement in prostaglandin metabolism, and improved skin condition from b6's essential coenzyme roles.
Why It's Used: The hexyldecanoate ester dramatically raises b6 logp from -0.77 to >8 โ enabling sc penetration and sebaceous gland delivery of vitamin b6 for sebum-regulating activity unavailable from water-soluble pyridoxine that remains on the skin surface.
How It Works: Esterase hydrolysis in the sc releases free pyridoxine which is phosphorylated to pyridoxal-5-phosphate (plp) โ the active b6 coenzyme form. plp is cofactor for transamination reactions in amino acid metabolism, sphingolipid biosynthesis (spt, the rate-limiting ceramide enzyme), and the prostaglandin pathway enzymes modulating sebum composition.
