Common Name(s): Resveratryl glucoside,resveratryl glucoside,stabilised resveratrol prodrug,sirt1 antioxidant active

CAS Number: N/a

DESCRIPTION

What It Does: Delivers resveratrol for sirt1 sirtuin deacetylase activation (anti-aging longevity pathway), antioxidant protection from the stilbene's radical scavenging, and anti-inflammatory activity from cox-1/2 inhibition โ€” in a stable water-soluble form not subject to the rapid oxidative degradation of free trans-resveratrol.

Why It's Used: The glucoside form solves resveratrol's two key formulation limitations: water insolubility (logp 3.1) and extreme oxidative instability (turns brown within hours). the glucose moiety provides water solubility and oxidative protection; skin beta-glucosidase releases the active trans-resveratrol at the delivery site.

How It Works: Beta-d-glucopyranoside bond at resveratrol c4-oh provides oxidative protection: the phenol electron density that makes resveratrol a potent antioxidant also makes it susceptible to atmospheric oxidation; glucosylation blocks this reaction. skin epidermal beta-glucosidase (expressed constitutively in keratinocytes) cleaves the glucoside releasing trans-resveratrol for sirt1 binding and longevity pathway activation.

SCIENTIFIC NOTE

Resveratrol trans/cis isomerism: uv exposure isomerises active trans-resveratrol to inactive cis form โ€” the glucoside protection from uv-induced isomerisation provides additional stability advantage over free resveratrol in photo-exposed formulations.
