What It Does: Provides water-soluble vitamin e antioxidant protection for aqueous cosmetic formulations.

Why It's Used: Used to incorporate vitamin e antioxidant activity into water-based formulas where standard tocopherol is insoluble.

How It Works: Glucose conjugation makes vitamin e water-soluble; the glucoside bond is cleaved by skin glucosidases releasing free tocopherol; additionally, the glucoside itself may have brightening activity via inhibition of melanin transfer.
